Hamburg-Amerika Linie Brass Ship Bell

Hamburg-Amerika Linie ship bell. Ornate and heavy cast brass. It is absolutely beautiful! and a great piece of history.

The bell says "H.A.P.A.G." which stands for Hamburg Amerikanische Paketfahrt Actien-Gesellschaft on the front and "D. New York" on the back (D for "destination"?)

This large bell measures approximately 4" tall.

This bell represents a part of history as the HAPAG ship line was involved in transporting goods and people across the Atlantic for almost a century. The company began operations in 1847 and employed many German immigrants, many of them fleeing the revolutions of 1848–9. The vast majority of settlers and emigrants from various parts of northern Europe began their voyages to the United States from Hamburg Germany on these ships

Busy Day

Well my daughter had a robotics competition today so I wasn't able to attend any auctions or estate sales todays so no new items.  However I secretly went into my husbands stash of Pure Silver Jewlery from an indian reservation that he grew up next too.

So I cleaned, belt buckles, rings and bracelets today and I will be posting them tomorrow for sale.  Hope he doesn't get too mad at me.  LOL

I'm going with what is mine is yours and the other way around!  :D

More to come tomorrow.

4 Vintage Hammersley Napkin Rings in Velvet box

If you are a man and reading this blog, I hope that there is one thing that you learn from this post,

"If it comes in a velvet box, any woman will love it"

For that reason alone, I purchased the next item.

4 Vintage Hammersley Napkin Rings in Velvet box.  The rings are in great condition and each is stamped with

"A division of Royal Worcester Spode Bone China Hammersely Made in England" at the bottom.

So now we have bone China and a velvet box, what could better!

Woman's Cobalt Blue Glass and Metal Flower Perfume Bottle with Screw-On Top

Cobalt Blue Glass is something that is appealing and special.  I know people who if it is cobalt blue glass they buy it no matter what.  I felt with the metal base and the detailed carvings in it that this would be a great item that would sell well.

The funny thing is I found this at an estate sale.  It was sitting in a box on a jewelry table and I would have missed it completely if I had not been so interested in the antique watches in the box, but when I saw it, I knew I had to have it.

3 Vintage Handcrafted Glazed Elephant Figurine/Candle Holders

These three guys are suprising in size when you actually see them verses reading about them, so here are their weights:

The smallest one is 2 pounds.
The medium one is 3 pounds.
The large one is 5 pounds

I was really drawn to these elephants because of the amazing detail in the paint and sculpting.  That is why I purchased them to help bring them to life again.  I had to clean them and check them for damage but there was none, I was amazed.

These are vintage Art more than anything else.

Venetian Murano Art Glass Clown 1940s-1950s

You have to feel bad for this little guy. He is a 9 1/2" Venetian Murano Art Glass Clown from the 1940s-1950s but he is missing a foot.  I don't know about you but I think Italian blown glass is beautiful, even with a missing foot.  After doing some research I found that these Clowns sell for $250 to $450, so I feel that $40 with a missing foot is perfectly acceptable.

If you disagree please tell me.  Like I said, this is my dream and I am sort of fumbling my way through it just trying to make it work and prove that it can be done.

Vintage Reading Cat Bookends with metal glasses

Vintage cat bookends, in great shape. I cannot find any chips or cracks in these guys. The cats are black with green highlights.

6 1/2" tall

The metal Harry Potter Glasses make these bookends complete!

Reading Cats

These cats are so unique and they look like they are hiding something.  I love the Harry Potter glasses that they wear, it really seem to complete the bookends.  I personally fell in the love with these guys and got into a bidding war over them, but I just felt they were something that my store had to offer!

I have actually collected antique books for years so bookends just seem like a logical progression from that love.  I have been considering selling some of my books also but I have not decided. yet.

2 Pc Vintage Handcrafted Leather Figurines from India - Man and Camel

The stories that I have created in my head about these two are many.  I can picture the leather figurine and leather camel running through the dessert explorer.  I have not been able to find much information regarding them online other than they appear to have been made in India.  I have found similar figures but never exact.  I know that they are handmade and very unique.  To some extent they are a little creepy too, I guess I go for unique and creepy when I am at auctions, not just unique.

The detail on the saddle and on the man is amazing.  The mans face is made of wood but the body is hand sewed leather.   Take a closer look and let me know if you think it was a good purchase.

Flambro Circus World Museum Musical Porcelain Clown from 1986

OK, I am going to start with the obvious, clowns are freaky, they just are and ones that move are even worse.

I can't image anything weirder than this moving Clown, but there was somehow appealing to me.

He is a Flambro Circus World Museum Musical Porcelain Clown from 1986,   He is in excellent shape and stands 12 1/2" Tall.  Flambro Circus Clown

2 Vintage Mexican Silver Butterfly Brooches

When I first found little guys, they were black from tarnish and amazingly enough nobody was interested or bidding on them.  So I placed my bid and won them.  They are two Mexican Silver Brooches, one with amazing iron work and the other with turquoise.  I think they would be an amazing gift!  You can find them at Mexican Silver Butterfly

GrandOpening of DerBayz Collectables

Yesterday, I took my first step to living my dream of searching for Vintage, Antique items (treasures) and finding a loving home for them.

There is so much history and craftsmanship in older vintage antiques and collectables and I see it as an honor to be able to find, clean and rehome these items.  I know that it sounds like I treat them like pets but to me they are special and need to be loved and cared for.  If you have the same passion as me for vintage items, I know that you will understand.
