Wonderful vintage Halloween tin lithograph noisemaker Made in USA by T. Cohn, Inc., founded by Tobias Cohn in 1900 in Brooklyn, NY, which specialized in toys of tin lithograph and later those made of plastic. This toy has been loved and played with and show its antique age, please see photos for details! It original had graphics of the face of a beautiful witch looking down upon goblins and cats sitting on pumpkins all illuminated by the firelight from a single candle.
Tin lithograph toys were very popular from the late 1800s into the mid 1900s with most U.S. production in the 1920s and 1930s. With the onset of World War II the manufacture of tin toys ceased with the material needed for other use in the War. After WWII, Japanese companies became the leading manufacturers of these types of toys until the 1960s when manufacturers switched to making toys of plastic.
The noisemaker works by holding the handle and with a simple wrist movement tilting the lollipop back and forth. The wooden balls on the end of sturdy metal wires bang against the round end making a loud sound.
8 Long and the drum is 4 Diameter
Great vintage decoration for Halloween or year round if you are an avid collector!
